Defining beauty and what is beautiful are very difficult things to do. The fact of the matter is that the definition of beauty does not exist. The cliché is that beauty stems from within. Each individual has a different perspective and view of beauty.
When I think of what beauty means to me, for as long as I can remember we have been told that it’s not what’s on the outside but what’s on the inside that matters. The modern idea of beauty usually clings to the concept that it involves the person’s physique. Beauty is not the first glance you sneak in the hallway. It’s the unknown that lies within. To put it simply, a beautiful person is the one with a good heart, kind, easy-going, willing to help a friend out, a good listener who gives advice and is just all in all a wonderful person to be around.
To be beautiful, you need to love yourself, be comfortable in your skin and most importantly, accept who you are. Self-love is an essential component of happiness and wellness. Most people lack this love for themselves resulting in depression and anxiety issues. Self-hatred leads to jealousy and poor mental health. Self-love can be difficult to achieve, but it’s worth the time and effort. The easiest way to start loving yourself is to appreciate what you have accomplished. This makes you feel worthy. Plus, focusing on your dreams helps you stay positive by eliminating negative thoughts.
Yes, looking at the media and even at our peers makes us feel like we are not that kind of beauty that is classified as society’s definition of the word. Although we will have some point in our life when we feel like we do not look like models and Instagram-famous girls with fit bodies, flawless skin and silky smooth hair, we should know that these factors are not what make us beautiful. Having an abundance of likes and retweets over a silly little selfie does not determine if we are beautiful or not. Being beautiful comes from doing what you have always wanted and not letting anything stop you. Being beautiful is having self-confidence, being tolerant, being mentally strong, being happy in others’ prosperity and having a spirit of encouragement and gratitude.
We all have our problems, the smallest to the most complex and serious ones. The way we face them makes the difference. Life continuously changes and we need to keep up with it. Some problems must be left behind and some must be solved. It’s up to us. The one who is capable of facing any difficulties certainly makes a positive difference in this world. Having confidence in yourself can help pave the way for new ideas, exciting adventures, and an independent spirit. When you look confident, people tend to be attracted by it. It is also important to bring about emotional maturity. What we do and think is largely based on our emotions. In simple terms, emotional maturity is considered a balanced approach to the various developments in life. It is the ability to react to the problems of life with proper understanding and reasoning.
